About Me
Dr Natalie Burton
I studied music at the University of Southampton, graduating with a first class honours degree in Music and an MA in Musicology (with distinction). Having principally taught music in a range of academic settings for the past eighteen years, I now enjoy something of a 'portfolio' career. In addition to my private teaching practice, I am also closely involved with music at Bournemouth University, where I teach clarinet and piano and accompany the Choral Society. I am an active composer, producing music in a range of styles. I recently completed my PhD at The Open University, which explored the twentieth-century, English song cycle allowing me to combine my interests in music and literature and have published a number of articles and book chapters on this subject.
